Juan Vargas Sanchez Sr. passed away surrounded by family on Monday, October 5, 2026 at the age of 91. He was born on March 8, 1935, in Martindale, Texas, to Maxcimino Sanchez and Herminia Vargas Sanchez.
Juan was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 71 years, Consuelo “Connie” Peralez Sanchez; his daughter, Gloria Sanchez; his great-grandson, Ryan Avery Soliz; and other cherished family members.
He is survived by his daughter, Dorothy Sosa (Walter), and his seven sons: Alvin Sanchez (Guadalupe), Tony Sanchez (Sandi), Juan Sanchez Jr. (Dinora), Chris Sanchez (Tommie), Vidal Sanchez (Cesilia), Kennith J. Sanchez (Gabey), and Maxcimino Sanchez (Derek), along with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Juan also leaves behind his siblings: Frank Sanchez, Eloy Sanchez Lucy Sanchez, Irene Sanchez and Chris Elias and step-mother, Martha Vasquez.
Juan married Consuelo on January 16, 1954, in Martindale, Texas. Their 71-year marriage was built on love, sacrifice, and devotion to one another and their family.
Juan devoted his life to his family. A lifelong farm laborer, he worked hard to provide for those he loved, but his greatest pride was the family he and Consuelo built together. Quiet and kind-hearted, with a wonderfully dry sense of humor, Juan showed his love not through grand gestures, but through his actions and his steady presence.
Some of his sons’ fondest memories are riding beside their father on the tractor as children. At home, Juan loved watching westerns while Consuelo enjoyed her Spanish novelas, the two spending countless evenings side by side. After Consuelo’s passing, he missed her terribly.
Juan will be remembered for his quiet strength, humility, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His greatest legacy is the family he and Consuelo built together and the values they passed on to generations that followed.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Friday, October 9, 2026, at Emmanual Worship Center (1102 70th Street). Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Emmanual Worship Center with burial to follow at the Idalou Cemetery.
His seven sons, son-in-law Walter, and brother Frank will have the honor of serving as his pallbearers. As boys, they rode beside their father on his tractor. Now, they will carry him one final time—a final act of love for the father who spent his life carrying them.
Juan and Consuelo’s legacy of family, devotion, and love will live on through the generations they leave behind.
