Larry Dale Roubison of Lubbock passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the age of 86. He was born December 14, 1939, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Clinton and Dorothy (Martin) Roubison.

Larry was born and raised in the Clovis area, where his New Mexico roots remained an important part of his life. As a young adult, his career took him throughout the South, where he helped open White’s Automotive stores in communities across the country. In 1977, Larry returned to Clovis and entered the furniture business with Okie Alexander.

In 1987, Larry made Lubbock his home and began another chapter of his career. He worked for Valero Oil Company at its 82nd Street and Slide Road location for many years. Following his semi-retirement, Larry managed the warehouse for Applied Petroleum Technologies before fully retiring in 2015.

While his work took him to many places over the years, Larry will be remembered most for the personality he brought with him wherever he went. He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed making those around him laugh. He was a loyal Texas Tech fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Red Raiders. He also enjoyed trying his luck at the slot machines, a pastime that brought him plenty of fun and, no doubt, a few good stories along the way.

Larry leaves behind his son, Michael Roubison and wife Penny of Phoenix, Arizona; his daughter, Karen Rodriguez of Clovis, New Mexico; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Larry W. Roubison.

Those who knew Larry will remember a hardworking man who enjoyed life, valued the people around him, and could always be counted on for a little humor. His family hopes he will be remembered with a smile—for his laughter, his unwavering loyalty to Texas Tech, and perhaps even the sound of a winning slot machine.

The family will host a memorial gathering to celebrate Larry’s life.
