Manuel Edwardo Guevara, 71, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2026, at University Medical Center Hospice. He was born on August 17, 1955, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Samuel and Catalina Guevara. Manuel had been a resident of Lubbock since 1967.

Manuel attended high school through the 11th grade and went on to build a long and dedicated career as a truck driver. He proudly worked for more than 30 years with A-Rock Materials, where his hard work and dependability were a testament to the man he was.

Dad was a man of few words, but he had a way of making time for everyone. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sharing stories, and simply being together. He was the kind of person who was always willing to help. If you asked him for help or needed something fixed, Dad was there.

Manuel found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He had a passion for pull-tab bingo and was especially lucky at it. He could spend hours enjoying the excitement of the game and sharing stories with those around him. He also enjoyed casinos, good food, music, and a good BBQ or cookout.

His favorite everyday treats were simple but brought him plenty of happiness: a Whataburger coffee and sausage biscuit, powdered donuts, and a Moon Pie. He loved his wino shoes and tube socks, too. These little things, along with his laughter, stories, and favorite music, are now some of the memories his family will treasure most.

Above all, Manuel loved being together. Whether at a race, gathered around a BBQ, listening to music, or simply sitting around visiting, his presence brought people together. He never needed to say much to make those moments special.

Though he is deeply missed, Manuel's stories, laughter, willingness to help, and the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Silvia Castro; sons, Charlie and Manuel Guevara; daughter, Melissa Martinez; daughter-in-law, Crystal Guevara; grandchildren, Eli, Harley, CJ, Mckenzie, Zoe Guevara, Larkin Martinez, and Abby Guevara; sisters, Juana Rodriguez and Lucy Guevara; brothers, Jesus, Lupe, Joe, Martin, George, and Flaco Guevara; brothers-in-law, Paul, Tom, and Elidoro Castro; sisters-in-law, Rosa Martinez, Nelda Castro, and Hermina Fernandez; 43 nieces and nephews; and 32 great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Catalina Guevara; brother, Samuel Guevara Jr.; nephew, Jason Guevara; niece, Savannah Guevara; uncle, Andres Guevara; and nephews, Paul Jr. Castro and Adam Castro.

Manuel will be remembered for his kind heart, his willingness to help, his love of family, and the joy he found in the little things. His greatest legacy is the love he shared and the family he brought together.
