Lanetta Maxine Ricketson was born on October 6, 1932, in Lawton, Oklahoma, to Jim and Virgie Jennings. On August 4, 2026, she peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones. In 1948, she graduated from Roswell High School and attended Abilene Christian College at the young age of 16. During her freshman summer break, she began dating the love of her life, Wayne, and gave up her dream of a college diploma in exchange for her MRS degree and married in June of 1952. Mac and Wayne spent the next 3 years stationed in Germany.

Maxine is survived by her two daughters, Jamie Head (husband Robert), Dana Sparks, (husband Steve), five grandchildren, Tiffany Phelps, Greg Jones, Justin Jones, Tucker Sparks, and Tate Sparks and 10 precious great grandchildren who called her GG Mom. She deeply, wholeheartedly, loved each and every one. They all thought they were her favorite. She is also survived by her sisters, Winnie Scitern and Janet Hammonds (husband Mike) and her nieces, Nedra Goodrich, Tonya Collins and Mikala Hammonds.

As one of the founding members of Green Lawn Church of Christ, she and Wayne were dedicated members since 1965. She taught Sunday school for years and was involved in the Ladies Bible Class. Maxine was also heavily engaged in the LCU Associates for many years where she constantly volunteered her time. She oversaw the South Plains Fair Corn Booth diligently finding volunteers and was the mastermind of hilarious skits and decorating beautiful tables for the associates’ luncheons each spring.

As an avid bridge player, Maxine played in two different groups loving the friendships she made and the great competition.

Being a fabulous cook, her pies could win blue ribbons. Her family will sorely miss her wonderful meals and the fellowship they had at the dinner table.

Her love of sports was never ending. Over the years, besides her devout loyalty to the Texas Rangers no matter how poorly they played, she was a dedicated fan and watched every game. Her passion for baseball came from Wayne and attending Little League games for his 56 years of coaching and her grandsons’ years of playing.

Maxine will be sorely missed by everyone that knew her as Maxine, Mac, Mom, Other Mom, GG Mom and MeMom, but mostly as the ever loving, kind, considerate, thoughtful and above all, faithful Christian.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 10, 2026 at Green Lawn Church of Christ.
