Megan Michelle Fortner-Teixeira, 41, of Denver City, Texas, passed away on September 25, 2026 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born on May 24, 1985, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Doug and Rhonda Fortner.

Megan was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She was a woman who cared deeply for others and had a heart full of compassion. Throughout her life, Megan faced struggles and fought battles that were not always visible to those around her. Yet, through every hardship, she continued to give of herself to others. Her generous spirit and genuine concern for people and animals were among the qualities that made her so special.

Megan had a deep love for animals and devoted much of her life to caring for them. Her compassion led her to work as a veterinary technician, where she could combine her love of animals with her desire to help. She also worked as a CNA, caring for people with the same kindness and compassion she showed throughout her life.

Outside of work, Megan found joy in baking, crafts, and coloring. She especially enjoyed dog rescue and had a soft spot for animals in need. Her heart seemed to have room for everyone, and she often gave more of herself than she had to give.

Above all, Megan was a mother. She leaves behind her children, Jake, McKayla, Brooklyn, and Gage, who will carry her memory and the love she gave them throughout their lives.

Megan is also survived by her parents, Doug and Ronda Fortner; her sister, Tiffany Henderson and husband Kent; her brother, Dustin Fortner and wife Danielle; nieces, Capri and Addison; uncle, Duane Dempsey; aunts, Linda Guest and Ruthann Postier and husband Russell; cousins, Crystal Chavez, Jennifer Hurley, Sean Hurley, Lindsey Guest, and Allen Postier; as well as many other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter and Ella Ruth Fortner, and her maternal grandparents, Paul and Yvonne Dempsey.

Even in death, Megan continued to give the greatest gift of all. Through organ donation, she became a final answer to someone's prayer, giving hope and the possibility of life to five people who were waiting for a miracle. In a life marked by compassion and a willingness to give to others, it is fitting that Megan's final act was one of extraordinary generosity.

Though she is no longer here in body, Megan's kindness, her love for animals, her creativity, and the love she shared with her children, family, and friends will remain a part of the lives she touched. Her legacy lives on not only in the memories of those who knew and loved her, but also in the five lives she helped save.

Megan gave of herself throughout her life, and in the end, she gave the ultimate gift — the gift of life.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 30, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Belvue Baptist Church in Hobbs, NM.
