Obituary

Norma Kay Evans of Lubbock, formerly of Littlefield, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born August 1, 1936, in Lamesa, Texas, to Troy and Aurora (Akers) Moss.

Norma Kay grew up in Littlefield, where she graduated from high school. For many years, she worked alongside her family at Moss Shoes. One of her favorite chapters of her working life was with the Littlefield Independent School District, where she especially enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with the students. Before retiring, Norma Kay worked as a staffing coordinator for a nursing agency. It was there that she met Woody Hobbs. The couple shared 10 years of marriage before his passing in 1998.

A faithful Christian throughout her life, Norma Kay was a longtime member of Crescent Park Church of Christ in Littlefield. After moving to Lubbock in 1990, she became a member of Sunset Church of Christ, where she continued to faithfully worship and serve. On August 19, 2000, Norma Kay married Lyndel Evans at Sunset and together, they shared more than 26 years of marriage, and a life grounded in faith, family, and love.

Norma Kay will be remembered most for the extraordinary warmth and love she freely gave to everyone around her. She knew no boundaries when it came to showing affection and never hesitated to hold your cheeks in her hands and give you a kiss. Nearly everyone she met was “honey,” and few conversations ended without Norma Kay making sure you knew just how beautiful you were and, more importantly, how very much you were loved.

Her generous spirit was rooted deeply in her faith. Norma Kay was a devoted prayer warrior who believed in the power of prayer and faithfully lifted others before the Lord. She gave generously, loved wholeheartedly, and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. Her life was a beautiful reflection of the faith she professed and the love she carried for others.

Norma Kay is survived by her husband, Lyndel of Lubbock; children, Kay Bailey and husband Dickie of Big Spring, Karol Carlisle of Lake Belton, Kim Creel and husband Chris of Wolfforth, and Clarence Hobbs and wife Camille of Edmond, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Janice Evans of Irma, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Woody Hobbs; children, Gary Evans and Sandy Hernandez; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Drusilla Moss; and son-in-law, Bill Carlisle.

The family will receive friends beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, October 5, 2026, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with services beginning at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Littlefield Memorial Park in Littlefield.
