Rosa Martinez Perales, 86, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, family, and memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
Rosa was born on August 30, 1940, in Slide, Texas, to David and Mary Martinez. A lifelong lover of family and the simple joys of life, Rosa had a way of making memories wherever she went. She found happiness in music, cooking, spending time with the people she loved, and enjoying the beauty of nature. She also had a playful side and enjoyed gambling, always bringing a little excitement and fun along with her.
But of all the things Rosa enjoyed, nothing meant more to her than her family. She cherished the time spent gathered around the table, sharing a home-cooked meal, listening to music, laughing together, and simply being in one another’s company. Her love was woven into the everyday moments, the traditions, the stories, and the memories that her family will carry with them forever.
Rosa’s life was one filled with family and love. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy through the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who were blessed to call her Mom, Grandma, and family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her four surviving children, Emma (Jerry Rodriguez) Rivera, Ernestina Carrizales Palomo, Daniel Perales, and David (Maribel Corral) Perales; sister, Anna (David) Benitez; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Baby Danny; brother, Fred Martinez; sisters, Flora Salazar, Dora Turpin, Alice Juarez, Mary Lou Perez, Helen Hernandez, Emma Rodriguez, Paula Montoya, and Eva “Becky” Chapa; late son-in-law, Carlos Ruben Rivera; late daughter-in-law, Angela Perales; late son-in-law, Marcelo Palomo, Jr.; grandson, Ruben Rivera; and great-grandson, Efrain Ruiz, III.
