Shanna Michelle Melendez of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the age of 32, following a lengthy illness. She was born January 12, 1994, in Arlington, Texas.

At just 13 months old, Shanna was welcomed into the loving arms of Angelo and Marlene Melendez through adoption. From that moment forward, she became the light of their lives, bringing immeasurable joy, love, and happiness to their family.

Growing up in Lubbock, Shanna enjoyed gymnastics and cheerleading, activities that allowed her energetic personality and enthusiasm to shine. She attended school in Lubbock and later continued her education at South Plains College. Shanna had a special place in her heart for animals and found great joy in working with and caring for them.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 12 years, Bailey Ellis of Lubbock; son, Tatum Martin of Lubbock; mother, Marlene Hernandez of Lubbock; siblings, Dusty Aaron and Madison Harle of Ft. Worth; grandmother, Irene Hernandez of Lubbock; four aunts; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Angelo Melendez, in 2012.

Visitation will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, with funeral services following at 3:00 p.m.
