Patricia Irene Byrd Baker, 82, of Lubbock passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in Lubbock.

Visitation will be on Saturday, June 25, 2022 from 11AM - 8 PM at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock, 2210 Broadway, and the family will receive friends from 5 - 7 PM. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at Petersburg Cemetery.

She was born on May 18, 1940 in Plainview to Herbert Aubrey Byrd and Thelma Catherine Byrd. She was raised in Petersburg and graduated in 1958. She married Curtis Dale Baker on January 10, 1959. Her first job was with Bell Telephone in Lubbock. She worked there until she became a stay at home mother in Idalou to raise her two children, Brett and Pam. After they graduated from high school, she worked at University Medical Center until going to work for the Lubbock Independent School District, where she worked for 22 years before retiring in 2004. She loved attending all her kids and grandkids sporting events and activities. She loved to read, play bridge, and golf a lot. She really enjoyed attending the Lady Raider Basketball games, and she absolutely loved going to all types of concerts, especially rock concerts. She loved her trips to Santa Fe New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey and Thelma Byrd, her brother, Burle Dean Byrd, sister, Avalie Byrd Mann and granddaughter, Anne Hubley.

She is survived by her son Brett Baker and (Kelly) of Canyon TX, a daughter, Pam Baker Emery of Idalou TX; five grandchildren, Austin Emery and (Alyssa) of San Antonio TX, Evan Emery of Idalou TX, Scott Hubley and (Jennifer) of Aledo TX, Rebecca Jones and (Jon Michael) of Amarillo TX, William Baker and (Nicole) of Denton TX, Eight great-grandchildren, Nephews Edward Mann and Andrew Byrd; Nieces Sissie Mann, Margaret Byrd and Kaye Byrd and many cousins.
