Wanda Wheeler

October 3, 1934 — September 11, 2022

Lubbock

Wanda Pauline Price Wheeler passed from this life into the presence of her Savior on September 11, 2022 in Lubbock, Texas.  Per her wishes, there will be no formal services held.

Wanda was born October 3, 1934 in Vernon, Texas to Clyde and Frances (Johnson) Price. Moving first to Happy and then to the Enochs area, she attended Three Way Schools near Maple.  She graduated from Three Way High School and then attended Draughan’s Business School in Lubbock where she made life-long friends.  She worked as a secretary, mainly in accounting offices.

Wanda married Royce Dale Wheeler November 19, 1960. With his job they lived many years in Saudi Arabia and traveled extensively.  They moved back to the States in the early 1980s.  She and Dale divorced in 1982 and she returned to Lubbock.  Although she lived for a time in Granbury and Carrolton she always returned to this area, ultimately returning to stay when she moved in with her mother to provide care in 1994.  After her mother’s death she settled in Lubbock.

Wanda was a talented seamstress, making much of her own clothing.  In retirement, she made “doggie accessories” to sell at craft shows.  She also was a Visiting Angel providing companion care for elderly patients. She loved the theater and was a great supporter of the Ragtime Gospel Theater in Post.

Wanda is survived by her sister-in-law Troy Price of Lubbock; nieces: Jaye Price of Georgetown; Janna (Johnny) Oliver of Pascagoula, MS; Jalisa (Ted) Thomas of Lubbock and Jacque (Rod) Tieszen of Lubbock as well as several great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Frances Price, her brothers Keith Price and Glynn Price, nephew Gary Price, and great-nephew Kade Hall.

The family suggests memorials to Ragtown Gospel Theater, PO Box 222, Post, Texas 79356 or to the ministries of Southcrest Baptist Church, 3801 South Loop 289, Lubbock, Texas 79423.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Combest Funeral Home.
