Jo Anna Thomas of Tahoka, 61, vivacious and fun-loving, went to rejoice in her Heavenly Choir on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 after a lengthy illness.

Born July 20, 1956 to Ray and Nan (Pennington) Adams. Jo Anna grew up in Tahoka where she was an active member of FBC church groups.

Jo Anna was a 4-H member and showed Angus cattle. She reigned as Texas Angus queen and traveled the state as a representative of the Texas Junior Angus Association in 1973. She also was a Lynn County rodeo queen. She graduated from Tahoka High School in 1974, received a bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University and was an elementary school teacher in Post, Seminole and Midland. After retirement, she moved back to Tahoka.

Some of her greatest joys were spending time with her grandchildren, including a trip to Disney World. She was a devout mother and grandmother who took pride in the education and extracurricular activities of her son and grandchildren. Much of her free time was spent watching baseball and softball games, attending school plays and being involved in planning and participating in family functions. She had a deep and abiding faith in her Savior Jesus Christ. She always will be loved and remembered by family and friends.

Jo is survived by her son T.J. Thomas and wife Jennifer of Tahoka; grandchildren Braylee, Brasyn and Brantz Thomas; mother Nan (Adams) Howell and stepfather Duane Howell of Lubbock; aunt Billie Parker of Tahoka; sister-in-law, Betsy Taylor and husband Kevin of Lubbock; niece Priscilla Petsch of Omaha, Neb.; and special cousins Nancy Carkeet and Lexi Midkiff of Lubbock; Phil Adams of College Station; Jana Kennedy of Panhandle; and Penny Redman, Betsy Pridmore and Carolyn Cockrell of Tahoka.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray and brother, Jim Adams.

A visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday June 7, 2018 at Combest Family Funeral Homes in Tahoka. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday June 8, 2018 in First Baptist Church of Tahoka. Special graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Tahoka Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Youth Scholarship Fund of First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 1547, Tahoka, TX 79373 or a favorite charity.
