Abel Benitez, a loving father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in his hometown of Lubbock, Texas. Born on November 17, 1962, Abel filled his years with laughter, kindness, and a deep love for his family and friends.

Abel dedicated his career as a General Laborer, working diligently for multiple companies throughout his life. He was respected and valued for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment to providing for his loved ones. However, it was not the accolades of his profession that defined him, but rather the warmth of his spirit and the love he freely shared with those around him.

Abel was a man whose home was always welcoming. He had a natural ability to make people feel at ease, often using his great sense of humor to lighten any situation. He cherished spending time with his family, particularly during the holidays, creating lasting memories that his children, Adam Nelson and Naquita Benitez, will carry with them forever. His joy was infectious, and his laughter still echoes in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He was a true lover of life, engaging in hobbies that brought him joy and relaxation—fishing by the lake, dancing to the rhythm of his favorite songs, or sharing moments with his beloved dogs. Abel found solace in music and enjoyed singing, further adding to the vibrancy of his personality. He had a passion for football and many evenings were spent playing pool and cheering for his favorite teams. These interests endeared him to all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of joy and fond memories that will be cherished.

Abel's family was his everything. He is survived by his children Adam Nelson and Naquita Benitez, who hold close the values he instilled in them. He also leaves behind siblings Juan Antonio Benitez, Sylvia Manriquez, Rudy Benitez, Lucy Benitez, Mary Ann Benitez, Jaime Benitez, Rose Benitez, and Jimmy Joe Benitez. Each of them carries pieces of his spirit, woven into the fabric of their lives.

Among those who will miss him dearly are his late parents, Juan and Oralia Benitez, along with his siblings Erica Davila and Jacky Benitez, and his cherished daughter Sabrina, all of whom welcomed Abel with open arms in the afterlife. The bonds of love between Abel and his family remain unbroken, a testament to the strength of their connections.

A visitation to celebrate Abel's life will take place at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock on January 14, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. His Celebration of Life service will follow on January 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM, concluding at 3:00 PM. Abel Benitez will forever be remembered as a kindhearted soul who enriched the lives of others with love, laughter, and lasting memories. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all he touched.
