Alice M. Ammons, 81, of Smyer, was gently lifted into heaven on her birthday to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, June 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Alice was born on June 27, 1944, in Paris, Texas to the late William Long and Beatrice (Benson) Long. She met the love of her life, Ronald Alton Ammons, and they were united in marriage on October 14, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas. Ronnie preceded her in death on December 18, 2002.
Alice loved working in her beautiful flower beds, baking, crocheting, doing puzzles and pranking her family. She has always had a special place in her heart for her grandkids and loved the Christmas season. She was a devoted wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her four children: Kim Ammons of Lubbock, Jack Ammons and wife April of Lubbock, Pam Jester and Cory of Wolfforth, and John Ammons and wife Becky of Tahoka; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Norval Long, Glenn Long, Richard Long; six sisters: Sandra Patterson, Jacquetta Perry, Wytoka Casey, Wanda Jones, Billie Jones and Patsy Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Combest Funeral Home, in the Venue on Broadway, 2210 Broadway. Reverend E. G. Lambright will be the officiant. Final rites and interment will follow in the Smyer Cemetery in Smyer, Texas. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to services.
The pallbearers will be Robbie Bradberry, David Bradberry, Ismael Guerrero, Chris Guerrero, Greg Kahlich and Jim Bob Jeffries.
