Anthony G. Scalone, 81, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilmington, Delaware to Joseph and Carmela Scalone. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring in 1982 with honors. His career included work in Strategic Air Command and assignments across Europe and the U.S., specializing in missile cruise computer systems.
After his military service, he worked as a computer programmer for Lubbock County Key Corporation until his retirement. He loved golf, coaching football and basketball, dancing, Sci-fi and ESPN networks, and working with computers.
Anthony was blessed to share his life with two incredible women. He married Mary Majalca in 1965; after her passing in 2001, he found love again and married Louisa Bustoz in 2002. She preceded him in death in 2020.
He is survived by his children, Anthony G. Scalone, Jr. (Kristi) of Kyle, Texas; Paula Drum (George III) of Phoenix, Arizona; Jake Bustoz of San Antonio, Brian Bustoz of Houston, Zina Martinez of Post, Priscilla Bustoz of Post, and Jennifer Bustoz of Lubbock. He also leaves behind his brother, Joseph Scalone (Dee) of New Castle, Delaware; 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brother Daniel, and sister Rosalie.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 30, from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Combest Family Memorial Chapel. Graveside service will follow at 2 PM at Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas, with military honors by Cannon Air Force Base. Final rites and interment are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock.
Pallbearers include Anthony G. Scalone, Jr., George Drum III, Jake Bustoz, Brian Bustoz, Dylan Pearson, and Sebastian Martinez.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anthony’s memory to BeyondFaith Hospice, 4523 114th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
