Antonia Mendez

June 13, 1934 — July 7, 2025

Lubbock

Antonia Mendez, a loving and strong-willed spirit, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Born on June 13, 1934, in Knippa, Texas to Epifanio and Julia Ramirez. She was known for her warmth, determination, and vibrant personality. Antonia embodied the values of hard work, faith, and family that would guide her throughout her life

Antonia had a natural talent for sewing, often creating many different garments and projects that reflected her unique style and attention to detail. One thing about Antonia was her wardrobe was a true expression of who she was, bold, elegant, and full of life. She carried herself with grace and pride in everything she wore. When she was not shopping for new clothes, she was usually being a true Texan watching Texas Tech and Dallas Cowboys football along with the San Antoino Spurs. Whether it was game day or just a conversation about her teams, she brough unmatched enthusiasm and loyalty. Antonia also had a deep interest in politics and never shied away from a good conversation about the world around her. She believed in standing up for what was right and stayed informed, involved, and outspoken in her beliefs. What was most important to her was her faith. Together with her husband, Jesus, Antonia found great joy in singing in their church, lifting her voice in praise with love and conviction. Their harmony, both in song and life, was a beautiful testament to their partnership. Antonia leaves behind a legacy of strength, style, and steadfast love. She was the kind of mother who stood by her family no matter what, offering both tough love and tender care. Her presence will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Those left to cherish Antonia are her children, Jesse Mendez, Javier Mendez, Gracie Carr, all of Lubbock, and Joel Mendez of Wichita Falls.

Those preceded in death is her beloved husband, Jesus F Mendez, Father, Epifanio Ramirez, and mother, Julia Hernandez.
