Antonio Rangel, a beloved chef, devoted father, and cherished friend, passed away on December 14, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 75. Antonio was born on March 11, 1950, in the warm town of Weslaco, Texas. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a passion by working along side his father Pablo Rangel that not only fed the bodies of those around him but also nourished their souls. A true artist in the kitchen, Antonio was known for his ability to bring smiles to faces with every dish he created.
In addition to his culinary talents, Antonio found joy in drawing and often delighted in watching action movies during quiet evenings. He had a particular fondness for coffee and sweet treats, which often accompanied his creative pursuits. These simple pleasures were a testament to his appreciation for life's little joys.
Antonio’s legacy will live on through his loving children: Michael Rangel, Tony Rangel, Juan Antonio Mejia, Josie White, Federico Mejia, Alonzo Mejia, Sandra Mejia, and Pablo Rangel. He took great pride in being a father and devoted himself fully to nurturing the relationships with his children. As a grandfather of fifteen and a proud great-grandfather to eleven, Antonio embraced family gatherings with warmth and laughter, creating lasting memories that his descendants will treasure forever.
He is survived by his siblings Rodolfo Rangel, Gerardo Rangel, Silvia Rangel, and Ricardo Rangel, who will undoubtedly carry his spirit forward in their lives. Antonio's family was his anchor, and he held deep connections with them, which brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Antonio was predeceased by his loving wife Hortencia Baltazar De Rangel, his parents, Pablo and Amelia Rangel, who instilled in him the values of love and family that he embodied throughout his life. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Antonia Varas Rangel and Apolonia Gonzales, as well as his brother Ricardo Rangel, who will be fondly remembered by those who knew them.
Visitation will take place on December 22, 2025, at Combest Family Funeral Home in Lubbock from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a Rosary service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on December 23, 2025, at 11:00 AM, where family and friends will gather to honor Antonio's life and legacy.
Antonio Rangel's spirit, creativity, and dedication to his family will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
