Bettie Jordan, 83, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, December 4, 2025. Bettie was born on February 21, 1942, to the late Oplus Leon Links and Glenna Earnestine (Roberts) Links.
She met the first love of her life, Glenn Hamilton. They married in 1958 and they spent many happy years together until he preceded her in death on May 4, 1979. After the death of Glenn and all of her children were married, in 1982, she attended nursing school in Seymour and became an LVN. After nursing school she married Harley Jordan, and he preceded her in death. She worked for the former Methodist Hospital for 30 years, mainly in the Medical ICU. She retired in 2008 after many years in the field of nursing.
Bettie loved to paint, work in her garden, and enjoyed being with her family and friends. Her favorite hobby was to rearrange furniture. Something was constantly being moved or rearranged. She enjoyed watching her cooking shows on TV. She didn’t know how to swim but herself, her daughter and her sister would go to the pool, and they would exercise two to three times a week. Her family said she very much enjoyed working crossword puzzles. She attended Trinity Church regularly and when not in attendance she would watch on TV.
Bettie was a kind, sweet woman and very supporting of her family and friends. She wouldn’t speak ill of anyone, but she would try to see things from their perspective. Her advice would be that sometimes you need to let it go and it will all work out.
Those left behind to remember and cherish her memory include: a daughter, Marsha Flud and her husband Dana of Lubbock; a son, David Hamilton of Lubbock; two sisters: Bobbie Hamilton of Lubbock and Margaret Keneda and husband Kenneth of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; both husbands; a daughter, Cindy Beston; two brothers: Mike Links and Roy Links.
Visitation for Bettie will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 11 AM until 2 PM, in the Chapel of Combest Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM, in the Chapel, with Dana Flud, her son-in-law, as the officiant. Final rites and interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
