Lubbock

Betty Belcher, beloved wife, mother and grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the age of 95, in Lubbock, Texas.

She left a legacy of Christian service and love. She served the children of Highland Park Baptist and First Wesleyan Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, for over fifty years. Her heart was teaching the children for Jesus.

She was a stay-at-home mom until the middle of the nineteen sixties when she went to work for TRW-Reda Pump for the next twenty years before retiring.

Mom and Dad loved baseball, history, and national parks. They travelled extensively throughout the U.S., but their greatest adventures were a trip to Israel, Jordan, Egypt, and Greece with OCSC missionaries.

In 2010 she moved to Lubbock and enjoyed her Thursday Bible Study, volunteering at Covenant Hospital.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-six years, James Belcher Sr., her daughter Patricia Metcalf, her parents, siblings, Richard Moore and Kathryn Moore.

She is survived by her son, James Belcher Jr., and wife Connie of Lubbock; daughter Karen Sada and husband John of Floresville, Texas; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CEF of the South Plains: P.O. Box 65425 Lubbock, TX 79464 or online at https://www.southplainscef.org/. This foundation is near-and-dear to Betty’s heart, supporting the mission of reaching children of Jesus.
