Betty Jane Deaver, 91 a long time resident of Lubbock passed peacefully on Tuesday, May 27 at her residence. Betty was born on June 16, 1933 to Trave and Tealie Crain in Porum Oklahoma. She was the third of 10 children. Betty carried the warmth and charm of her small town upbringing throughout her life and shared the warmth with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Betty married Evans Toney Sr. in the summer of 1949, together they had four children. Subsequently Betty married Elton Deaver in October 1988. Betty worked for Texas Instruments 20+ years before retiring in July 1994.
A proud native of Porum Oklahoma, Betty loved to reminisce vividly about the joys of her childhood spent in the community affectionately known as the hollow or the bottom as she would say. Her stories overflowed with laughter, love, and an occasional thrilling ghost tale that would captivate all who listened.
Betty took much pride in her family. She was dependable and always there with open arms ready to help however she could . Her favorite past time was spending time with Family and preparing wonderful meals. She was an excellent cook who loved cooking, we all had a favorite dish! Betty also enjoyed singing, music, fishing, church activities and traveling.
Having Betty as our Mother was a privilege, as she will be dearly missed and always loved .
Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, Trave and Tealie Crain, Evans Toney Sr., Elton Deaver, Daughter-in-law Jana Toney, Son-in-law Danny Daniel. Brothers Hubert Crain and Larry Crain, her sisters Wanda Carter, Marie Tannerhill and Kay Taylor.
Those left to cherish and honor her memory are her children Maxine Daniel of Lubbock, Evans Toney Jr. of Lubbock, Kenny Toney (Teresa) of Caldwell
Kimberly Munoz ( Robert) of Odessa . Grandchildren, Larry Daniel, Andy Daniel ( Lori), Joshua Toney(Katrina), Micah Toney, Kyle Toney(Celeste) Kory Toney(Becca) Kortnie Moorhead(Trevor), Brock Brown(Cassie), Kylie Brown, Brianna Munoz, Robby Munoz(Hanna). 20 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Betty’s siblings left to honor and cherish her memory are her sisters Dorothy Bean, Lois Gaudreau, Lyn Russel and brother Trave Crain Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
