Betty Sue Redden, a woman of deep faith and loving spirit, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2025. Born in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, on March 18, 1934, to Horris Morris Pigg and Nellie Icel Clark, Betty's life was a beautiful tapestry of dedication to her family, church, and community.
For over 30 years, Betty was a cherished member of South Park Baptist Church, where she found immense joy in teaching Sunday school and nurturing the next generation. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she shared her kindness and warmth with everyone she met.
Betty was also a talented beautician who owned and operated Betty's Beauty Shop, serving her community with skill and a friendly smile for many years. Even after retiring in 2007, her loyal clients often called, and she happily made house calls for a couple more years. Outside of her professional life, she was a celebrated home cook, known for her delicious cornbread dressing and legendary chocolate meringue pie-dishes that brought her family and friends together in joyful communion. Betty also loved to vegetable garden, using her fresh harvests to create her memorable meals.
She is survived by her loving children: DeAnn Hathaway of The Colony, Texas; Marqua Waugh of Lubbock, Texas; Michael Redden of Hale Center, Texas; and Leslie Redden of Lubbock, Texas. She also leaves behind her siblings, Patsy Lightsey of Austin, Texas, Jackey Pigg of Lufkin, Texas, Johnny Pigg of Levelland, Texas, and Harold Pigg of Wolfforth, Texas, along with eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at South Park Baptist Church. The committal service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the City of Levelland Cemetery in Levelland, Texas.
