Bobby Charles Beale

Dec 1, 1939 — May 7, 2026

Bobby Charles Beale, a man whose life was marked by dedication, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to those around him, peacefully passed away on May 7, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, following a valiant fight with Alzheimer’s. Bobby's journey was one of professional accomplishment, heartfelt community involvement, and devotion to family. Bobby graduated in the class of 1958 from Sudan High School, embarking into higher education at Lubbock Christian College 1958-60, and finishing his degree in civil engineering from Texas Tech University in 1965. Bobby embraced a career as a Civil Engineer, a profession in which he served with distinction until his retirement in 2023 at age 83. His dedication to civil engineering was matched only by the gentle spirit with which he conducted himself.

Bobby Charles Beale was born to parents, Ethel Jewel Alexander Beale and William Allen Beale, in Littlefield, Texas. They preceded him in death, as well as one older brother, Duane Beale, all of Sudan, Texas. Bobby was the husband of Kalah Jan Aycock Beale from May 28, 1960, until her death in June, 2013. He began dating long-time family friend, Gayle Drennan in 2019 and they married in August, 2021.

Bobby is lovingly survived by his wife Gayle Drennan of Lubbock; his children, Saundra Beale Wimberley of Lubbock, April West and husband Eric, and Ronnie Beale and wife Jennifer of Lubbock; along with grandchildren, Samuel Wimberley of Lubbock, Carter, Andrew and Mallory West of Midland, Mason Beale and wife Kirsti of Lubbock, and great-grandchildren Matthew and Riley Beale.

He was also proud to claim his wife Gayle’s daughters and their husbands, and their grandchildren and great-grandchildren as his own. They were all precious family to him.

Known widely for never having met a stranger, Bobby had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. He was always one to welcome you in. His great sense of humor brightened every moment and he enjoyed every day of life God granted him.

Bobby found deep fulfillment in his Christian faith. He was baptized as a teen and chose to lead his life following Jesus. His family was very active in the church of Christ wherever they lived. He had been a member of South Plains Church of Christ for almost 50 years, where he attended, led and served with heartfelt devotion. His love of local history, music and storytelling were his cherished pastimes—expressions of his warm soul that brought comfort and laughter to many.

The farewell memorial will be held at the South Plains Church of Christ, 6802 Elkhart Ave, Lubbock, TX 79424, on Monday, May 11, 2026, beginning at 1:00 PM. At this service, family and friends will honor him with stories, singing of hymns, and a time together to remember.

The family will remain afterwards, hoping to visit with friends and family who can share their memories of Bobby. Interment will happen locally in near future with the family.
