Brenda Lynn Simmons, 71, and a resident of Lubbock since1972, was gently lifted into heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Brenda passed away on June 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 13, 1955, in Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico to Mary Mildred “Millie” Samuels and the late Thomas L. Samuels.
Brenda attended high school in Carlsbad, New Mexico and graduated with the senior class of 1972. Following high school, she attended Lubbock Christian College for a short period of time.
She met the love of her life, Stuart Blane Simmons, and they were united in marriage on August 2, 1974, in Carlsbad. Out of this union before God, Brenda and Blane brought three adorable children into this world, Rebekah, Sarah and Danel.
Brenda worked in faculty support at Texas Tech University for several years, retiring in 2010. She loved sewing, playing 42 dominos and being a true and faithful friend to all. Brenda has been a long-time member of Sunset Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Blane of Lubbock; three children: Rebekah Holley of Ridoso Downs, NM, Sarah Womble of Lubbock and Daniel Simmons of Amarillo; her mother, Mary Mildred "Millie" Samuels of Lubbock; her siblings: Treva Andrews of Bixby, OK and Stanley Samuels of Angel Fire, NM; and eight loving grandchildren. Those who have preceded her in death include her father, Thomas L. Samuels and a sister, Candace Elaine Ditto.
A visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in the Venue on Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home, at 2202 Broadway. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the auditorium of Sunset Church of Christ, 3723 34th Street. Rodney Roberts will be the minister for the service and Josh Wheeler will be the song leader. Cremation arrangements and memorial services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
