Brenda Kay Turner

Brenda Kay Turner, 73, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on April 13, 1953, in Lubbock, Texas, Brenda was the cherished daughter of Clarence Earl Morris and Lois Goodgion Morris. She grew up in Shallowater and graduated from Shallowater High School in 1971, where she enjoyed playing both basketball and volleyball, forming friendships and memories that would last a lifetime.

Following high school, Brenda answered a calling to care for others by attending nursing school at St. Mary's Hospital. She dedicated many years of her life to serving patients as a nurse, working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at St. Mary's Hospital before continuing her nursing career at University Medical Center and later as a traveling nurse. Her compassion, gentle spirit, and dedication to her patients made a lasting difference in the lives of countless families.

On February 14, 1981, Brenda married the love of her life, Carl Turner. What began as a Valentine's Day wedding became the beginning of 45 wonderful years of building a life filled with love, faith, family, and countless treasured memories. Together they created a home where laughter was abundant, family always came first, and everyone felt welcomed.

While nursing was a profession she loved, Brenda would tell anyone that her greatest accomplishment and most treasured role was being a mom. Her children were the center of her world, and in later years, nothing brought her greater joy than becoming "BB" to her beloved grandchildren. She poured her heart into her family, always offering unconditional love, encouragement, wisdom, and the comforting reassurance that only a mother and grandmother can provide.

Brenda embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in the simple moments. She loved spending time on the golf course and proudly celebrated one of every golfer's dreams—a hole-in-one. If she wasn't busy with her family, she was likely in the kitchen preparing meals that brought everyone together. Family gatherings were made even more special by her crispy fried chicken and her famous BBQ stew, recipes that will forever be remembered with love. During quiet moments, Brenda enjoyed working puzzles and playing games, always keeping her and others on their toes like LCR.

Christmas was Brenda's favorite time of year. She treasured the traditions, laughter, and togetherness that came with the season, especially the cherished family trips to Florida to celebrate the holidays. Her favorite color was red, a fitting reflection of her vibrant personality, warm heart, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.

Those who knew Brenda will remember her for her caring nature, her servant's heart, and the unwavering love she had for her family. She found fulfillment in caring for others, whether at a patient's bedside, around the dinner table, or simply by being present for those she loved. Her kindness, strength, and gentle spirit leave behind a legacy that will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.

Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Carl Turner; her daughter, Patti Reed; her daughter, Katy Banner and husband, William; her son, Ryan Turner and wife, Ali; her daughter, Lori Warner; her brothers, Wayne Morris and Daryl Morris; her five cherished grandchildren, who lovingly knew her as "BB"; and her nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Earl Morris and Lois Goodgion Morris, her brothers Walter Morris and sister-in-law Mary Morris, brother Dennis Morris, and sister Janet Morris.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Trinity Church, 7002 Canton Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79413.

Though Brenda's presence will be deeply missed, the love she gave, the lives she touched, and the memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
