Carlos Vega Jr.

Carlos G. Vega, Jr. of Tahoka passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the age of 81.  He was born November 12, 1940 in Taft, Texas to Carlos and Asulema (Guerrero) Vega.  At a young age the family moved to Lynn County.  He married Maria Almendarez on August 17, 1962 in Tahoka.  Carlos worked in the cotton ginning business most of his life.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed fishing and shooting pool, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Carlos (Chuck) Vega, III of Corpus Christi and Mabel Rosas and husband Martin of Tahoka; siblings, Joe Vega, Sr. of Tahoka, Robert Vega and wife Virginia of New Home, Abel Vega of Tahoka, Frank Vega and wife Rosa of Lubbock, Erma Saldana and husband Lupe of San Antonio, and Dora Blanco and husband Javier of Seagraves; six grandchildren: Martin Lee Rosas, Isaac C. Vega, Elijuah Vega, Breanna Littrell, Isiah Vega and Gabby Littrell; twelve great-grandchildren: Evan Rosas, Derek Rosas, Adalynn Rosas, Nora Lynn Vega, Adrian Vega, Zayda Vega, Miliani Rose Vega, Ethan Garza, Elijah Garza, Emani Vega, Mariela Garza and Azaleena Vega.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Maria on April 7, 2022; daughter, Diana Vega in 2018; and four siblings, Juanita Rodriguez, Lupe Pena, Sanuel Vega, and Manuela Perez.

Open visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 with rosary cited at 6:30 p.m. at Combest Family Funeral Homes, Tahoka.  Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. Jude Catholic Church with interment to follow at Nevels Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Robert Ayala, Ronnie Vega, Martin Lee Rosas, Isaac C. Vega, Isiah Vega, and Raymond Vega.
