Carol Sherrill (80) passed away August 13, 2022, in Lubbock, TX. She was born February 23, 1942, to James B. and Leona (Vineyard) O’Connell, in Lubbock, TX. Carol graduated Monterey High School, Lubbock, in 1960. Carol went on to study Theatre and was cast in many local plays.
Carol wore many hats, not only her mother hat, but she was also a copy writer and business manager with Blue Chip, was Director of Senior Citizens Center in Victoria, TX, Director of Golf Coast Counsel of Aging, and spent many years with a local funeral home, working as a Family Counselor in the pre-need department. While performing as a family counselor, Carol received many awards for top pre-need sales. She also won many awards for her copy writing and design. Carol enjoyed reading, gardening, and most of all, she loved caring for dogs (pets).
Carol was preceded in death by her first husband, Dale Karpe, her parents, Jim and Leona, and a brother, Jimmy O’Connell. Those remaining, to cherish her many memories are her daughter, Kelly (Craig) Morrison, a son Kyle Karpe, sister-in-law Charlotte O’Connell, grandson Michael (Caitlyn) Morrison, grandson Jordan (Sydnei) Morrison, 4 great grandsons and husband Charles Sherrill.
A memorial service, to celebrate Carol’s life, is scheduled for Friday, August 19th at 2:00pm, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway. Elizabeth Abraham will officiate the service. In acting upon Carol’s wishes, cremation is entrusted to Combest Family Crematory; inurnment will occur at Terrace Cemetery in Post, TX.
Carol’s family would like to send a special “thank you” to the staff at Hospice of Lubbock and Whisperwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Lubbock.
