Carole Pevey

Carole Pevey, 83, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2026. Born on January 28, 1943, in Lubbock, Carole was the beloved daughter of the late Ulmer Welch and Verva O’Neal.

Carole lived a life beautifully defined by her devotion to her family. An exceptional cook and baker, she poured love into every meal, turning ordinary family gatherings into unforgettable, cherished memories. She was happiest when she was working in her garden, spending time with her family out on their land, and loving on her faithful dogs, Rusty and Shorty. Carole will also be fondly remembered for her passion for collecting Boyds Bears, and for the quiet, nurturing warmth she naturally extended to everyone around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Butch Pevey; her sister, Nelda Parson; and her loving children: Tracey Pevey and her husband Chad Bouse, Rhonda Welch, and Bobby Strickland and his wife Jolene.

Carole's legacy of love lives on through her grandchildren: Krystal Hawkins and her husband Mitch, Jimmy Laird, Brandi Mueller, Josh Reading, and Ashley Pevey and her husband Jeremy Tate. She was also the fiercely proud great-grandmother to cherished great-grandchildren: Kelsea Hawkins, Mason Hawkins, Braylee Wolfe, Kylen Wolfe, Natali Mueller, Noah Mueller, LJ Krajca, Talen Reading, and Emmitt Tate.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Ulmer Welch and Verva O’Neal; her brother, Buddy Welch; and her beloved family members Dustin Krajca, Jana Strickland, and Justin Wolfe.

Her gentle spirit and boundless love will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her warmth will remain in the hearts of her family forever.
