Carroll Ray

William "Carroll" Ray of Lorenzo, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on January 27, 1942 in Littlefield, Texas, Carroll's early life was shaped by his days working on the family dairy farm in Anton, where he learned the values of hard work and dedication. He later enjoyed a fulfilling career with Case Tractor, where he spent many years before retiring. Known as a jokester, Carroll had a unique ability to engage in long conversations that often-left friends and family laughing. His warmth and humor created countless precious moments, and he loved nothing more than to share stories over the phone.

Carroll married the love of his life, Daryl Gray, on September 28, 1983, in Crosbyton. They made their home in Lorenzo where he lived until he passed away. Their bond was evident to all, as they enjoyed square dancing together and shared a deep appreciation for Bluegrass music. Carroll’s laughter and authenticity truly shone during these times, forever imprinting joy into the hearts of those who danced alongside him. Carroll revealed in hobbies that brought him pleasure and fulfillment. He adored fishing, enjoyed playing bingo, and found thrill in the excitement of slot machines.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Becky Richardson, and her husband, Tracy, of Bryson, Texas; two granddaughters, Bayley Richardson and Brinkley Richardson; and stepsons Eric Hurst, Mike Hurst and Karl Hurst.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Daryl, on September 27, 2017, as well as his siblings, Aubrey Ray and Nelda Moore.

Becky, his daughter, would like to deeply thank BeyondFaith Hospice, Cornerstone Caregiving, Mr. Cates, Alissa, Dominique and Chris Renfro for their love of Carroll and their dedication to keeping him in his home.

A memorial service to honor Carroll's memory will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Lubbock.
