Charles “David” Stephens, 78, passed away Monday, June 1, 2026, in Lubbock, TX. He was born Saturday, May 7, 1948, to Vergil Pope and Mary Agnes (Garrison) Stephens in Knox City, TX.
David graduated from Petersburg High School in 1966; He enlisted in the United States Army on November 27, 1967. During his military career, David earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, 2 O/S Bars, and the Air Medal.
David went on to be an author and screen writer. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and enjoyed writing movie scripts.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Vergil and Mary, a brother, Steve Stephens, and a sister, Martha Smith. Those remaining to carry on his legacy and cherish his many memories are his brother, Wayne Stephens, his sister, Kay May, 5 nieces and 6 nephews.
