With heavy hearts, profound sorrow, and yet deep in faith and in the will of God, accepting Gods decision Mother Cleothia Quigley made a triumphant transition from earth to glory.
Cleothia Quigley, known lovingly as "Maw Maw." Born on May 27, 1934, in Athens, Texas, Cleothia graced this world with her kindness and warm spirit until her transition to glory on January 24, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. She was a remarkable woman whose life was characterized by love, laughter, and selfless service to others.
Cleothia dedicated her career to the noble pursuit of caring for others. Initially, she lent her talents to Morton Foods before embracing her calling as a caregiver at the Lubbock State School, a role she cherished until her retirement. Her unwavering compassion and nurturing nature made a lasting impact on the lives of those she cared for, evidencing her innate ability to uplift and inspire no matter the circumstance.
An alumna of high school, Cleothia’s education served as a foundational stepping stone to a life filled with countless enriching experiences. She took pride in her family and community, finding immense joy in the act of cooking, singing in the church choir, sunday school teacher and Women Missionary Society—all ways in which she devoted herself to her faith and her loved ones. Her gentle, welcoming personality, combined with her infectious smile and delightful sense of humor, could light even the darkest room and made her a beloved presence among family and friends alike.
Cleothia adored spending quality time with her family, particularly during the holidays, which were occasions filled with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories. She leaves behind her devoted husband, J.C. Quigley, as well as her beloved children: Neldia Hibbler (Walter) of Lubbock, TX; Lura Little (Larry) of Arlington, TX; Walter Quigley (Lula) of Lancaster, TX; Shirley Quigley of Lubbock, TX; Sheila Quigley of Arlington, TX; and Tamara Perkins (Rodrick) of Lubbock, TX; and Bonus Daughter Casandra Dixion (Glen) of Mansfield, TX. 29 Grandchildren, 47 Great-Grand Children and 7 Great Great Grand Children. Her legacy endures through her loving family, including her cherished sisters, Kathelene Anderson, Arnethia Graves and a very special bond with her grand-daughter Kahli Upshaw.
Cleothia is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pink and Carlena Parson, and three of her children, Troy Quigley, Barbara Mitchell, and Jaydon Quigley. A constellation of siblings also await her in the embrace of eternity—Pink Parson Jr., Lee Parson, Dan Parson, Cleveland Parson(Twin Brother), Luvenia Little, and Berothia Jackson—each having played a unique role in the rich tapestry of her life.
The community is invited to honor and celebrate Cleothia’s remarkable life during a Visitation at the Venue on Broadway, Lubbock, Texas on February 6, 2026, from 4 PM to 8 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas on February 7, 2026, at 11 AM with burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
As we gather to reflect on her life, we carry with us the warmth of her spirit and the enduring love she bestowed upon all who were fortunate enough to know her. Cleothia Quigley will forever be remembered for her contributions to the lives of many and for the deeply rooted love that she shared with her family and community. Her transition from earth to glory serves as a poignant reminder of the beauty of life and the connections we hold dear.
