In Loving Memory of Cruz DeLeon

May 3, 1958 – May 30, 2026

Cruz DeLeon, age 68, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on May 3, 1958, to Dionicio and Julia DeLeon, Cruz lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and devotion to his family. A proud Catholic and strong man of faith, he found strength and purpose in serving God and caring for those around him.

Cruz worked for J&B Industrial Services for ten years before joining his brothers at Deltran Auto, where he continued to demonstrate the work ethic, dedication, and integrity for which he was known. He was a provider in every sense of the word and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, or anyone in need.

Above all else, Cruz cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed gathering with loved ones, creating lasting memories, and sharing his wisdom and humor. He was also a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.

Cruz was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melinda DeLeon; his parents, Dionicio and Julia DeLeon; his brother, Jesse DeLeon; and his great-grandson, Elijah Lucero.

He leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his daughters, Julia Garza and husband Jeremiah Garza, and Angela Hernandez and husband Joshua Hernandez; his son, Anthony DeLeon; his grandchildren, JJ Lucero and wife Hailey Lucero, Javen Lucero, Jeremiah Lucero, Kayden Garza, Jakobi Hernandez, Aiden Hernandez, Dominic DeLeon, Dionicio DeLeon, and Elidianna DeLeon; and his great-grandchildren, Julian Lucero, and Adaliyah Lucero.

He is also survived by his brothers, Joe DeLeon and wife Milly DeLeon, and George DeLeon and wife Susan DeLeon; and his sisters, Mary DeLeon, Francis DeLeon, Janie DeLeon, Rachel DeLeon, Josie Orta and husband George, and Lupe DeLeon, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Cruz’s legacy of faith, generosity, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on through all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with those who have gone before him and rests in the eternal peace of God’s presence.
