With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Damion Celaya, age 21, lovingly known to many as “Pelon” and “Dee.” He was a young man whose life was filled with laughter, loyalty, and the simple joys that made him unforgettable.
Damion had a true passion for his troka tumbada — always dropping it lower, shining it up, and hitting the road with pride. If his truck was running, his takuache music was blasting, windows down, and Damion smiling big. Some of his happiest moments were spent doing burnouts and cruising with his brothers and friends, creating memories that will forever echo in their hearts.
Above everything, his greatest joy, purpose, and reason to wake up each day was his daughter, Aylah Celaya. She was the light of his life and the one who brought out his softest, most loving side. His love for her was deep, gentle, and everlasting.
Damion loved being surrounded by family. He enjoyed sitting at his grandma’s table eating his favorite home-cooked meals and spending time with the people who meant the most to him. He had a playful spirit, especially with his mother, Ashley — always teasing, joking, and bothering her just to make her smile. His humor, warmth, and loyalty touched everyone who knew him.
Damion is deeply loved and will be forever remembered by his daughter Aylah; his mother Ashley Gonzalez; his father Fabian Gonzalez; and his six brothers Zachariah, Isaias, Fabian Jr. “Bubba”, Josiah, Xavian, and Angel Gonzalez.
He is also lovingly survived by his maternal grandmother Lucy Dominguez and maternal grandfather Gene Dominguez; his paternal grandmother Rosa Chavez and paternal grandfathers Luis Gonzalez and Enrique Dominguez.
His life was enriched by his aunts and uncles: Domenek Dominguez, Tearra Dominguez, Benita & Frank Hernandez, Pancho Hernandez, Andy Chavez, and Luis Gonzalez.
Damion is preceded in death by his great-grandfather Ramon Celaya, great-grandmother Anita Amaro, and paternal great-grandmother Benita Dominguez, who now welcome him home with open arms.
Though Damion left this world far too soon, his spirit lives on in every laugh shared, every song played loud, every truck cruising the streets, and every memory held close by those who loved him. We find comfort knowing he is at peace, no longer suffering, surrounded by love, and watching over his family — especially his daughter, Aylah.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, November 30, 2025 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm. Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, December 1, 2025 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at City of Lubbock Cemetery.
