Daniel Wayne McGinnis, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away on November 28, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on February 2, 1948, in Lubbock to C.D. McGinnis and Addie Mae Bigler, beginning a life marked by dedication, faith, and deep love for family.
Daniel was a hard worker throughout his life. He proudly devoted 30 years to BNSF Railway, where he worked on the railroad with commitment and integrity. Beyond his work, he was a man of many passions. He enjoyed golfing, collecting unique and antique treasures, especially coins and comic books, and solving puzzles of all kinds, including word games, chess, and sudoku. His mind was always active, and he took great pleasure in challenges both big and small.
Family was at the heart of everything Daniel did. Becoming a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather brought him immense joy. He cherished every moment spent with those he loved. Daniel was also deeply rooted in his faith. He served as a deacon at Parkway Baptist Church for ten years, a role that reflected his desire to care for others and serve his community. His faith guided him, and he lived with kindness, humility, and generosity. Above all his accomplishments, Daniel’s greatest joy was spending 55 beautiful years married to his beloved wife, Guadalupe. Their life together was his proudest achievement.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Guadalupe McGinnis; daughters Rachel McGinnis, Danita (Sam) Quinoes, and Christina McGinnis, all of Lubbock; brothers Billy (Lisa) McGinnis of Fort Sumner and David McGinnis of Lubbock; sister Barbara (Bob) Hearing of Illinois; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C.D. and Addie Mae McGinnis; his son, Michael McGinnis; his sister, Margie McGinnis; and his granddaughter, Clarissa Gonzales.
Daniel will be remembered for his steady strength, loving heart, and unwavering faith. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the lives he touched.
