Debbie Wheeler

April 23, 1952 — January 6, 2022

Debbie Wheeler, 69, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, January 6, 2022. She was born on April 23, 1952, in Farmington, Oakland County, Michigan to her late, adopted parents Hiram and Maxine (Selke) McEachern.

Debbie attended Frenship High School, graduating with the Class of 1970.

Right out of high school, she married Bobby Daniel Wheeler in Lubbock, Texas, in 1970. Mr. Wheeler preceded her in death on August 2, 2008.

She worked at Texas Instruments from 1975 to 1988, working as the department head in drafting. She was one of a few women in the field at that time. After Texas Instruments closed, she worked in retail for approximately 12 years before retiring in 2000. Debbie loved to train dogs, crochet, sew, was an avid TV watcher of soap operas and loved Halloween.

Those left to cherish her memory is one son, Mike Wheeler and his wife Katy of Tahoka; one brother, Andrew Barnard of Michigan; four sisters, Jackie Charlebois of Lubbock, Joanne Mangum, Stephanie Charlebois and Yvonne Garrett, all of Arizona; 5 grandchildren, Sasha Dewey, Christopher Shaver, Brittany Messick-Garcia, Raygin Stice and Ryan Taylor; 1 great-grandchild, Alyssa Smith. She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, her husband and one grandchild, Andrew Villarreal.

Visitation for Debbie will be on Monday, January 10, 2022, from 1 PM until service time, at the First Baptist Church in Tahoka. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 PM. Reverend Cliff Holdridge will be the officiant for the service. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park, in Lubbock, under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
