Donald Ray Allen of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born February 7, 1946, in Denison, Texas to the late Martin Lester and Margaret Ann (Fink) Allen. At a young age the family moved to Lubbock where he attended school. On May 21, 1965, Don married Johnnie “Ernie” Moyers. Six months later, he joined the United States Army where he served until honorable discharge in 1968. He took great pride serving in the Army and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War.
For more than 40 years, Don owned and operated Triple A Truck Repair on the Idalou Highway, retiring in 2009. He took great pride in his work and the customers he was honored to serve for many years. Grandpa or “Pa” as we know him was a great man and teacher of life lessons. While it is extremely hard to have to see him go, we all know in our heart of hearts this is for the best…no more pain and worries.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son, John Allen of Lubbock; grandchildren, Jay, Kimberly, and Saige; cousin, Scott Rolland; and daughter-in-law, Shelley Allen.
Don was preceded in death by his wife, Ernie, on October 10, 2024, and his dog buddy who passed shortly before her.
Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 pm, Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel with military honors taking place at 2:00 pm.
