Donald Glen "Donnie" Brauer, 66, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas. Born on May 14, 1960, in Oxnard, California, Donnie lived a life marked by hard work, kindness, and devotion to his family and faith.
Donnie spent some of his most fulfilling years working in the oil fields of Texas and later as a security officer at the Mirage Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. His dedication to his work was matched only by his ability to form lasting friendships wherever he went. Known for his fearless spirit and unwavering work ethic, Donnie left an impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In 2026, Donnie returned to Texas after many years in Colorado. It was during this time that he proudly embraced his faith and became a saved member of The Open Church of Lubbock. His baptism marked a profound moment of peace and renewal in his life as he deepened his relationship with God.
Donnie had a passion for collecting coins, guns, and natural stones—a hobby he cherished especially because it allowed him to share these treasures with his daughter. He was a man who saw the good in everyone and carried a kind heart that touched countless lives. His smile could light up any room and will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Amber Goldberg (Nathan) of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughter Kylie; grandson Gaige; brothers Ron (Lisa) of Shallowater, Texas, and Mike Brauer of Arizona; sister Suzanne Maner (John) of Sunrise Beach, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnie was predeceased by his father Francis Brauer of Las Vegas, Nevada; mother Maryon Baker of Lubbock, Texas; and sister Danielle Brauer of Lubbock, Texas.
Donnie’s memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends. May those who knew him find comfort in remembering his warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit. A Memorial Service will be held on May 24, 2026, from 12:30 PM to 01:45 PM at The Open Church Of Lubbock 3707 Avenue A . Please join us for a small luncheon after the service.
