Donald Keith Harmon

July 5, 1951 — August 5, 2024

Lubbock

Donald Keith Harmon was born in Freeport Pennsylvania in 1951. Don left this earth for his heavenly home on Monday August 5th, 2024. As a young boy in Pennsylvania, he learned to mow and manicure a local golf course. During his teenage years he worked in a brick yard doing masonry work on various jobs around the community. After graduating from high school, he attended Ohio Valley college in Parkersburg, West Virginia. This is where Don met the love of his life Linda McGlumphy.

Don received an opportunity to come to Lubbock Christian University in 1974 as an athletic trainer and he and Linda moved to the Hub City. While at LCU, he and Linda were dorm parents at Katy Rodgers Hall where Don was known for making giant homemade cookies and homemade pizza. During these times Don and Linda attended Greenlawn Church of Christ. Don loved LCU and worked as a plumber and did general maintenance around the campus. Don also worked at Furrs cafeteria, Region 17, Broadway Church of Christ, and the Museum at Texas Tech. Don had a passion for music and loved the old gospel hymns. He was a diehard Pittsburg Steelers fan.

Don is survived by his former wife Linda McGlumphy Fox of Lubbock, two daughters, Kelsi Cannon 41 of Austin, Kenzie Walcott 37 of Lubbock, 4 grandchildren, and three “adopted grandchildren late in life” Reid Freeman 21 of Lubbock, Holt Freeman 18 of Snyder, and Drew Freeman 16 of Gail. Don will be missed by many but especially his best friend Rian Freeman 47 of Shallowater. If Don was given the chance to say three final words, it would be LET’S GO STEELERS!

The family and friends of Mr. Harmon would like to extend a special thank you to the Slaton Care Center and Hospice of Lubbock for the outstanding level of care and compassion shown to Don in his final days. Don expressed his desire to be Cremated and carried back home to Pennsylvania, to the Allegany River area.
