Donna Jan "Dj" Hall

Donna Jan “DJ” (Smith) Hall, 68, of Lubbock, entered heaven to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.  She was born on February 19, 1954, in Midland, Texas to Roy and Dee Smith.

She attended Monterey High School, graduating with the senior class of 1972.  Following graduation from Monterey, she attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and Education.

Gary Hall, who was her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, were joined in marriage on June 4, 1976, in Lubbock.

Donna had an intense love for her Lord and Savior, her family, and friends, and was lovingly considered everyone’s prayer warrior.  She loved tending to her flower beds, loved the outdoors and the mountains.  In particular, she loved riding around on Gary’s golf cart as he played golf.  She worked as an administrative assistant to the Director of Special Education for the LISD for 4 years.  Donna was a member of the Monterey Baptist Church.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her husband, Gary, one daughter, Amy Valdez and her husband Jimmy of Perryton; two brothers, Steve Smith and his wife Shirley of Slaton and Sam Smith and his wife Candi of Lubbock; her parents, Roy and Dee Smith of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Zach and Zoey Valdez of Perryton; Gary’s sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Brian Conger, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation for Donna will be held from 6 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway.  Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Eberley Brooks Sage Church, 8602 CR 7000 (off 66th Street).  Reverend Jim Brown will be the officiant for the service.  Private interment will be under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Valdez, Zach Valdez, Steve Smith, Sam Smith, Nick Hinojosa, and Brian Conger.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, in Donna’s memory, be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 3610 22nd Street, Suite 301, Lubbock, TX 79410 or to the American Cancer Society, 3511 10th Street, Lubbock, TX 79415.
