Donnie “Don” McFarland, 81, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, July 28, 2026. Donnie was born on June 4, 1945, in Knoxville, TN, to the late Elmer McFarland and Gertrude (Carr) McFarland.
He attended and graduated from Livermore High School in Livermore, California in 1963. He furthered his education by attending the College of San Mateo and graduated with an associate’s degree in computer science.
Donnie met the love of his life, Barbara Ann White, and they married on March 31, 1965, in Denver, Colorado. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2025.
Donnie served his country for eight years in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam War.
Donnie loved to do woodworking of all kinds, especially making clocks. He worked as a data computer processor for Vyne Computer, a company he owned and operated for over 20 years and had worked for the Intel Corporation for five years. He also loved teaching his children and grandchildren how to fish. He retired in 2005 and was brought up in the Southern Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include two sons: Nickolas E. McFarland and wife Joann of Lubbock, and Michael McFarland of Castro Valley, California, and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a sister, Carolyn Russell.
Visitation will be at 9:30 AM to 10 AM on Thursday, August 8, 2026, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, followed by funeral services at 10 AM. Final rites and interment will be at 2 PM in the West Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Lubbock.
