Dorothy Wynell Edmonson

August 13, 1940 — September 27, 2025

Lubbock

Dorothy Wynell Edmonson, of Lamesa, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025. She was born in Littlefield, Texas, August 13, 1940, to Elvis and Frances Walker when the family moved to Lamesa, TX. There she spent her childhood until marrying in January 1960 to the love of her life, Kenneth Edmonson. Once married, they made Lubbock their lifelong home, where she touched countless lives with her kindness, faith, and creativity.

Dorothy was best known for her gift of crocheting. With each stitch, she poured love into blankets, garments, and keepsakes for her family. Her generosity extended beyond her home as she proudly donated many of her creations to the Ronald McDonald House, offering warmth and comfort to families in need.

Above all, Dorothy considered being a mother her greatest joy and accomplishment. She was proud to raise her 4 daughters with love, guidance, and devotion, instilling in them the values that shaped her life.

Dorothy was deeply committed to her faith and was a founding member of St. Luke’s Southwest United Methodist Church. Her devotion to her religion was evident in the way she lived her life—with compassion, service, and unwavering belief.

She was also an avid reader and cherished the adventures found in books, as well as those experienced through travel. Her greatest joy in traveling came from sharing those journeys with her husband, Kenneth. Whether exploring new places or simply being together, Dorothy’s happiness was found in their companionship.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Kenneth Walker of Abilene, TX; her children, Dana Hale of Lubbock, TX, Tammy Edmonson of Lubbock, TX, Samantha (Todd) McKay of Corinth, TX, and Heather (Mark) Perrien of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Kali Medlin, Lauren Hale, Aubrey Hale, Hunter McKay, Hannah Ferris, Scout Dolberry, and Blaze Dolberry; and great-grandchildren, Hazel Medlin and Nash McKay.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Elvis Walker and Francis Hanks, and her loving husband, Kenneth Edmonson.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Alan, Chasidy, and Chelsea of Grace Hospice, as well as the staff at Fountain Hills in Wolfforth, for their compassionate care and support.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at St. Luke’s Southwest Methodist at 10:30 AM. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park at 2 PM.
