Dr. Carolyn Miller

Dr. Carolyn Miller, 89, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, February 27, 2026. She was born on November 13, 1936, in Waterville, Kansas, to the late Benjamin and Norma (Smerchek) Pishny.

She attended High School in Waterville, Kansas, graduating in 1954. She furthered her education at the University of Illinois , completing her doctorate in Elementary Education in 1989.

She taught children's literature at Texas Tech University before accepting a position teaching at All Saints Episcopal School in Lubbock before retiring at the age of 70.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her partner of over 36 years, Robin Foley, her children Rachel Miller of Fletcher, NC, Susanne Blix (Bruce), of Fitchburg, WI, Patrick Miller(Ann) of Colorado Springs, CO, four grandchildren (Matthew, Michael, Meredith, Kara) and four great grandchildren (K-sha, Kanyon, Karson, Kenzie) in addition to her treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don Pishny.

Services are in the process of being planned and will be announced at a later date.
