Elidia Garcia Vasquez

Elidia Garcia Vasquez, 73, of Lubbock, was gently lifted into heaven on Saturday, June 14, 2025, with her family at her bedside. Elidia was born on January 12, 1952, in Lamesa, Dawson County, Texas, to the late Luis Garcia and Connie (Samarripa) Garcia.

She attended schools in Lubbock, and this is where she met her first and only boyfriend, Carlos Vasquez, which was love at first sight. They married on May 3, 1970, in Lubbock, Texas and have been together until Elidia passed from this earth.

Elidia worked for SuddenLink Communications as a Customer Service Representative for 10 years before retiring in 1999. She loved to cook, sew, shop, and work in her garden. She also made blankets for her children and grandchildren. Whenever her grandchildren would play baseball, she was always there to support her loved ones, and she thrived on loving to help others.

Those left to honor and cherish her joyous memory include her husband, Carlos; her children: Veronica Vasquez (Pete Lara) of Lubbock, Melinda Ybarra (Joseph) of Lubbock, Alissa Betancourt (Abel) of Lubbock and Jennifer Trevino (Franky) of Lubbock; her siblings: Lucy Garcia, Susie Hinojosa, Maria Rivera, Mary Lou Lopez, Eva Lopez, and Adam Garcia; nine grandchildren: Samantha Ybarra, Joey Ybarra, Tommy Torres, Koby Torres, Isaih Trevino, Isaac Trevino, Matthew Vasquez, Sophia Lara and Skylar Lara; two great-grandchildren: Maya Ybarra and Alayna Nunez. Elidia was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Connie Garcia; two brothers: Johnny Garcia and Raul Garcia; and one sister, Adelia Garcia.

There will be a Memorial Gathering from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock, TX. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
