Elmer Wilson, Jr., 67, of Levelland, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, April 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
Elmer was born to Elmer Wilson, Sr., and Laura (Embra) Wilson on January 17, 1956, in Hearne, Robertson County, Texas.
Elmer grew up in Lynn County, graduating from Tahoka High School in 1975. He was baptized at an early age and attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church in New Home, Texas until his death. He retired from the United States Postal Service, in Levelland, after 35 years of service. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include one son, Michael Wilson and his wife Priscilla of Lubbock; one daughter, Tanika Wilson of Lubbock; his mother, Laura Wilson of Tahoka; sisters: Ora Larry of Bryan, Texas, Doris Lewis and her husband Nathan of Lubbock, Brenda Amin of Tahoka, Ella Askew and her husband Timothy of Lubbock; one brother, Jimmy Wilson and his wife Kitty of Tahoka; aunts: Deborah Washington of Franklin, Texas, Rachel Maxwell and her husband J. C. of Franklin, Texas, Shirley Wilson of San Angelo, Gloria Embra of Franklin, Texas; granddaughters: BreNae Nelson, Michayla Wilson and BreAne Nelson, all of Lubbock; grandsons: Jeremiah Nelson and Michael Wilson, Jr., all of Lubbock, and a host of relatives and friends. Elmer was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Wilson, Sr., and one brother, Michael Shane Wilson.
A time of reflection and visitation will be held from 5 PM to 7 PM on Friday evening, April 21, 2023, at Combest Family Funeral Home in Tahoka, 1821 Main Street. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2023, in the Nevels Cemetery in Tahoka under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory. Reverend L. V. Witherspoon, of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, will be the officiant.
Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Lewis, Jr., David Williams, Quincy Rucker, Jimmy Wilson, Jeremiah Nelson and Don Martin.
