Elva June (Philpot) Pinkston, 85, of San Antonio, and formerly of Tahoka, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, March 3, 2026. Mrs. Pinkston was born on June 21, 1940, in Cherry Hill, Perry County, Arkansas, to the late Elvis and Ethel (Hoover) Philpot.
She married John Pinkston on September 14, 1958, in Crosby County. Mr. Pinkston passed away on July 18, 2010.
Mrs. Pinkston attended schools in Tahoka and graduated from Tahoka High School. She attended Texas Tech University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Continuing with her education, she went on to attend New York City’s Yeshiva School of Social Work, where she obtained her Master’s Degree. She worked as a therapist for many years, before retiring in the 1990’s.
She loved to work in her garden, painting and doing crochet work. She was a member of the Methodist Church.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include one daughter, Marianne Pinkston-Mueller, MD and husband Edward J. Mueller, MD of Hamilton, Montana; one sister, Joy Wildey of Tow, Texas; four grandchildren: Hadi Abdulbaki, Aliyah Abdulbaki, Mirjan Abdulbaki, and John Garrett Gudgeon. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, and a daughter, Cathy Gudgeon.
The visitation for Mrs. Pinkston will be held from 11 AM until service time on Friday, March 13, 2026, in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Tahoka. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM in the Combest Family Memorial Chapel in Tahoka. Reverend Derek Cory, of Tahoka’s First Baptist Church, will be the officiant. Final rites and interment will be in the Tahoka Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home in Tahoka.
