Emma Mendez Luna, a devoted mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 92. Born on September 29, 1932, in the quaint town of La Pryor, Texas, Emma lived a life steeped in love and compassion, exemplifying kindness at every turn.

Throughout her career as a Certified Nurse Assistant, Emma devoted herself to caring for others, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her profession was a natural extension of her nurturing spirit, as she was known to be a protector of her family, always ensuring they felt safe and loved. Emma's welcoming nature and infectious sense of humor made her a beloved figure among friends and family. She possessed a rare ability to create a comfortable atmosphere, where all were instantly put at ease in her presence.

Emma enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—whether engrossed in the latest episodes of "The Young And The Restless," losing herself in a good book, or indulging her mind with crossword puzzles. Her passion for music was evident, and no occasion was complete without her delightful culinary creations, particularly her famed tamales, which brought families together in joy and celebration.

Emma's legacy is carried on by her loving daughters Mary Luna-Fabila ( Rudy), Sonia Parra (Robert), Suelema Moreno (Chance Andrews), and Rebecca Vidaurre-Saldivar (Rudy); her sons Santos Luna Jr. (Maricela) and Ramon Luna (Regina); and her dear siblings Elida Villarreal, Leo Mendez, and Henry Mendez. In her lifetime, she was blessed with an expansive family—twenty-two grandchildren, Thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, each one a testament to the enduring love she imparted.

She now joins her deceased loved ones, including her parents Ramon and Maria Vasquez-Mendez, her husband Santos Luna, and her children Samuel Luna and Sonia Luna, and grandson Michael Luna reunited in eternal peace.
