Georgia Lee Steward

Georgia Lee Steward, 85, of Lubbock, was called to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday morning, November 25, 2024. Georgia was born on August 18, 1939, in Ft. Worth, Tarrant County, Texas, to the late George Washington Davis and Nola Aline (Holcomb) Davis.  

Georgia met the love of her life, Bob Steward, in 1966, and they were married for 51 years. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2017. 

Georgia loved the Lord and her church community; she loved her family and all animals, especially her most recent companion, Tater. She loved nature and making her home a beautiful space to spend with those she loved. Her church, Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, of which she was a long-time member for over 35 years, was very special to her. She was a giving person who loved to give back to her community and those who did missionary work. She was a legal secretary for the Lubbock City Attorney's Office for 17 years before retiring in 2017. Before that, she wore many hats to take care of her family.  

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include one daughter, Shana Fowler, and husband Ken Fowler of Lubbock; one stepdaughter, Brenda Fowler of Lubbock; six grandchildren: Sarah Fowler, Lucy Fowler, Mykal Johnston, Katie Johnston, Steven Johnston, and Misti Fowler as well as her great-grandchildren Anna-Lea Fowler, Luke Walkup, Hazel Walkup, Derik Fowler, Dalton Fowler, and Dylan Fowler and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Lance Johnston, one stepson, Steve Steward, one grandson, Eric Fowler, one brother, Johnny Davis, and one sister, Lillie Richards.

Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, December 14, 2024, in the sanctuary of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, 9507 Indiana Avenue, Lubbock, TX. Pastor Steve McMeans will officiate. Cremation arrangements and memorial services are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
