Gerardo Rios, Jr., 24, of Lubbock, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 11, 2022. He was born to Gerardo Rios, Sr., and Yolanda (Rodriguez) Johnson on August 26, 1997, in Hereford, Deaf Smith County, Texas.
Gerardo was a landscaper and worked for Kings Landscaping in Lubbock. He loved music, the ocean, Chicago Bulls basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. Gerardo loved his family, especially his favorite nephew Kenji. Playing basketball with his brothers was very special and dear to him. As well, he loved being with his Uncle Johnny in Hereford, as he felt this was being closer to his father. He was a member of Lubbock Baptist Temple.
Those left to cherish and honor his memory include his parents, Gerardo Rios, Sr. of Dallas, his mother and step-father, Yolanda and Charles Johnson of Lubbock; three brothers, Daniel Rios and Juan Rios of Lubbock and Matthew Rodriguez of Hereford; two sisters, Sierra Rodriguez and Yulisa Rios of Lubbock; paternal grandmother, Adelita Rios of Edinburg, Texas; paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Evelyn and Frank Rocha of Herford.
Visitation for Gerardo will be from 4 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, May 19, 2022, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the Venue on Broadway. Pastor Wes Bygel, of Lubbock Baptist Temple, will be the officiant. Final rites and interment will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes.
Pallbearers will be Juan Rios, Daniel Rios, Marco Barragan, Matthew Rodriguez, Xeomar Villarreal and Mauricio Rivera.
