Gonzalo Silva

Gonzalo Silva of New Home passed away on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the age of 85.  He was born on January 11, 1928 in Prajedis, Mexico to Vicente and Julia (Calderon) Silva.  Gonzalo married Lilia Contreras on February 2, 1949 in Juarez, Mexico.  He worked as a farmer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lilia; four daughters, Rosa Nevarez and Lilia Speckman both of Lubbock, Lupe Haros of Ft. Worth, and Cindy Lamar of Edmond, Oklahoma; five sons, Joe Angel of Stanton, Vicente, Javier, and Arturo, all of New Home, and Gonzalo, Jr. of Lubbock; brother, Francisco Silva of Las Cruces, NM; sister, Amalia Rios of Mexico; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Gonzalo was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Martha A. Rodriguez; three brothers; and one sister.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Combest Family Memorial Chapel.
