Guadalupe Lucio, 94, of Lubbock, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning, February 17, 2026. Guadalupe was born on November 9, 1931, in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas, to the late Lenardo Gonzales and Guadalupe (Gonzales) Gonzales.
Guadalupe met the love of her life, Pedro S. Lucio, and spent many years together. Pedro preceded Guadalupe in death on February 9, 2014.
She worked a homemaker most of her life, taking care of her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She worked for August Pies in Lubbock for several years, before retiring in 1962.
Guadalupe loved to work puzzles and do word searches. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking tortillas and playing Bingo. During the holiday season, her tradition was to make homemade tamales of which everyone loved. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Those left to honor and cherish her memories include her children: Pete Lucio and wife Sandy of Lubbock, Janie Avila and husband John of Waco, Teresa Medina and husband Ciro, Bertha Casarez and husband Jesse of Lubbock and Danny and wife Erin of Lubbock. She also leaves behind one brother, Leonardo Lucio, Jr. and wife Isabell of Lubbock; two sisters: Manuela Gracia of Mission and Juanita Cortez and husband Juan of Lubbock. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, of which she has 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Guadalupe is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her children: Joe, Jesse, Earnie, Ray and Beatrice; her siblings: Ester, Nicolas and Jose Luis.
Those who wish to pay their respects to Guadalupe and her family may do so from 3 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 PM that evening. Mass will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1120 52nd Street in Lubbock, with Reverend Jose De Dios Gonzalez as the Celebrant. Following Mass, Guadalupe will be laid to her heavenly rest at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home. Please note that there will be no procession to the cemetery and everyone will just meet at Peaceful Gardens.
Her casket bearers will include Jeremy Rangel, Sammy Lopez, Isaac Lucio, Marcus Lucio, Bito Lucio and Nick Lucio.
In lieu of the customary floral offerings, the family requests that should you wish to donate to please do so in memory of Guadalupe to a charity of one’s choice.
