Harry G. Overstreet, 78, of Lubbock, passed from this earthly life on Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born on October 14, 1947, in Gorman, Eastland County, to the late Virgil D. Overstreet and Frances Ladell (Duggan).
He attended Abernathy High School, graduating in 1966. He furthered his education by attending The National Electronics Institute of Denver before joining the Navy for 7 years. When Harry was Honorably Discharged from the Navy He went to work for Houston Light and Power who later became South Texas Electric Generating. He worked there until his retirement in 2009. During his tenure he continued his education through The University of Maryland graduating with his Bachelor of Science in 1994. He then attended the University of Houston -Victoria graduating with a degree of Master of Business Administration in 1999. In 2008 he achieved his degree of Doctor of Management through the University of Phoenix.
His favorite sports teams were the Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets and Dallas Cowboys. He loved to play tennis, snow ski, scuba diving and He loved working and teaching the youth with many various organizations. He has been a member at Sunset Church of Christ since he returned to West Texas.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include two brothers: Dickie Overstreet and wife Jo of Lubbock; Tommy Overstreet and wife Phylis; Jonathan Castro, Son, of Lubbock; Kirk Kaszynski, Stepson, of Austin; and his best friend and devoted companion, Cheryl Rooker of Lubbock; He is also survived by three nieces, Rachel Overstreet, Casi Overstreet, Cori Overstreet and a nephew Tad Overstreet. There are also five grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in the auditorium of Sunset Church of Christ with Brian Garnett of the Sunset International Bible Institute (SIBI) officiating. Memorial services and cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you consider donating to one of the following in memory of Harry: Boys & Girls Club of Lubbock, Alzheimer’s Foundation, Special Olympics or SIBI – Sunset International Bible Institute.
