Helen Lorraine Fairbetter

Helen Lorraine Fairbetter, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2026.

Helen was a longtime member of the Daybreak Community Services family, where she had been part of the community since April 1, 1999. Over the years, she formed meaningful connections with her housemates and caregivers, who became like family to her.

Helen found joy in life's simple comforts. She loved sipping sweet tea or coffee, relaxing in her recliner, and spending quiet time in her room, which she considered her safe haven. She enjoyed sitting on the back porch in her rocking chair, listening to the radio, and watching television-especially laughing along with episodes of The Golden Girls. Her favorite treat was chocolate pudding, and she took great pride in her appearance, always enjoying having her hair and nails done, often finishing her look with a bow to match her outfit and her favorite soft clothing and fuzzy socks.

Known for her sweet and friendly nature, Helen brought light to those around her. She preferred calm, quiet surroundings and found comfort in familiar routines.

Helen will be deeply missed by her housemates, as well as the many caregivers and staff-past and present-who had the privilege of knowing and caring for her. Her gentle spirit and the joy she shared will not be forgotten.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 11:00 am till 1:00 pm at Combest Family Funeral Home, 2210 Broadway Lubbock, TX 79401. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 at Peaceful Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 15602 TX-493 Loop, Lubbock, TX 79423.
